Phil Durrant, Non-executive Director. Phil joined the Alpine board in an advisory capacity in 2021 to support the senior management team in the strategic development of the company but has had actually worked with Alpine in various roles form many years.

Phil has over 30+ years’ experience in the marine sector and having initially graduated from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne with an Honours degree in Geology he then attended University College London to complete a Master’s Degree in Marine Geology and Geophysics. Initially this led him in to a career as a marine Geophysicist working offshore surveying sites, routes and cables/pipelines for a range of Oil and Gas operators working for Britsurvey. This is where Phil first became involved with Alpine, hiring them to undertake landfall surveys for cable systems in Brazil. Phil worked his way up through the Britsurvey business to deputy Managing Director before the company was purchase by Fugro. After a short period with Fugro Phil joined Gardline to oversee their environmental division where he managed an exceptional period of growth. This is where Phil once again became involved with Alpine overseeing the purchase of the company by Gardline and becoming a Director of Alpine.

Phil has significant experience in managing business on an international basis and has overseen data acquisition projects across the globe. Phil has continued to develop his skills to keep pace with the energy transition working on marine renewable projects, including offshore wind and tidal energy projects and is now Managing Director of MarineSpace, a leading environmental and geoscience consultancy. At MarineSpace Phil offers his extensive experience to a range of clients to support then in delivering their projects in accordance with the regulatory framework and their own sustainable development goals.

When not watching sport, of which Rugby Union is his real passion, he is often to be found tending his vegetable patch or generally doing something outdoors.
