Jon Spink, Commercial Manager, supports the commercial side of the business by responding to invitations to tender and working directly with Alpine’s clients.
Jon has worked with Alpine for over five years. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Gardline, where he started as a Field Environmental Scientist working offshore conducting benthic and chemical sediment sampling projects, and using underwater video and imaging systems for habitat assessments. Projects were carried out around the globe, from shallow waters of the North Sea to the deep waters (3,500m+) offshore North and West Africa and Australasia. Jon transitioned into project management supporting environmental, geotechnical, and geophysical survey projects carried out for international Oil and Gas clients, and European offshore wind farm developers. For the last 5 years at Gardline Jon moved to a position as Commercial Manager and then the Marine Wildlife and Environmental Business Line Manager at Gardline.
Jon graduated from The University of Plymouth with a BSc in Biological Sciences with a focus on marine microbiology in 2003 and with a MSc in Applied Marine Sciences in 2005.
Jon spends much of his free time working to restore his dilapidated 1840s cottage, and when there is time, he can be found in the garden shed working on the latest “bargain” small engine with the help of YouTube.
Jon is motivated by a challenge and enjoys the process of working through a problem to find a solution, whether that be a complex survey requirement or to an operational challenge.
