Building off its extensive experience working on DoD UXO remediation surveys around the world, Alpine has become one of the leaders in UXO clearance surveys for the US offshore wind farm industry. After completing a multi-month UXO survey off the northeast, Alpine was recently awarded another multi-month survey for Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, currently under development and to be built off Virginia’s coast. As part of its commitment to supporting this crucial need of wind farm developers in the US, Alpine is pleased to announce the purchase of four new EIVA Katria Scanfish ROTV systems. These will be the first systems sold to a US company, and permanently located in the US. Each system will be capable of towing four Geometrics 882 magnetometers. This will mean that on Alpine’s R/V Minerva Uno, we can simultaneously tow two Katria systems, with a total of eight magnetometers, thereby accelerating UXO surveys while still meeting Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) standards and the data requirements often needed for UXO “As Low As Reasonably Possible” (ALARP) sign off certificates.
